Magic In Motion Aerial Arts festival awards Fabulous Cash prizes, gift baskets, gifts cards gifts and medals along with our “Judges Specialty Awards” which are awarded for Overall Highest Score Routine, Outstanding Choreography, Most Entertaining, The Hot Shot Award, Best Costume and Judges Choice Award. ALL performers will receive recognition for every act performed in our awards ceremony. 

Studios, Schools and Independent Athletes will receive digital score sheets with judges comments along with videos from every judge.


In order to reserve your spot, all registrations are subject to the registration fee of $40 which includes Masterclass and a Picture and Video Package.  You now will have pictures and videos of each of your routines. 

All registration fees are per performer.  All entries and payments MUST be received 21 days prior to the competition date or your registration will be removed.  All entries received after the deadline are subject to a $30 late fee. Entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to the performance time available.  Entries will not be processed without full payment.  Payment can be made by studio check, certified funds or credit card.  Early registration is encouraged as registration will be closed prior to the deadline if the entry maximum for the event is met.

  • Independent registration is defined as an athlete attending without a Registered Studio/school, coach, choreographer or teacher.

  • All discounts and scholarship will be applied by Magic In Motion at the time of registration. If it is not applied, please contact us and we will help you complete the registration.

COMPETITION INFO

  • Hot Shots - 7 to 8 years old

    Kiddos - 8 to 10 years old

    Juniors - 11 to 12 years old

    Teens - 13 to 14 years old

    Seniors - 15 to 17 years old

    Adults - 18 + years old

    (Adult category is for groups who average 18  and older or teachers/professionals who wish to compete.)

    *In the event that an age is contested, please be prepared to provide proof of age.

  • Solos - 3:00 Min.

    Duos/Trios   - 3:00 Min.

    Emerging Pros - 4:00 Min.

    Small Groups (4-10 performers) 3 - 4 Min.

    Large Groups (11-19 performers)  4 - 5 Min.

    Productions (20+ performers)   5 - 6 Min.

    There will be a 30 second “grace period” allowed for each routine. 

    A 1-Point deduction for every minute over your “grace period” time. Those routines that do not comply will result in a fade-out of routine and will be penalized an additional 5-Point deduction.

  • All Music must be uploaded thru the Registration Portal 3 weeks before the Event Date.

    Music must be submitted as: .mp3, .m4a.

    NO CDs will be accepted.

    Please be prepared to provide back-up music if necessary. iPhones, Computers or Flash drives. 

    In the event the incorrect music is played during the performance, Notify Backstage staff Immediately. Please double check that all music has been uploaded correctly.

  • NOVICE          

    This division is for students who have been training on their apparatus less than 2 years. This division is for performers who have never competed or new to competing.

    LOWER STUDENT DIVISION   

    This division is for students who have been training on their apparatus for 2 - 4 years, who have competed but not placed at a competition before. This division is perfect for competitors who love to compete for FUN and less for the competitive aspect. 

    UPPER STUDENT DIVISION

    This division is for students who have been training on their apparatus for 5+ years. This division is perfect for competitors who have either placed or won at other competitions and who compete for the competitive aspect. 

    EMERGING PRO

    This division is for teachers, student teachers or competitors who have been training on their apparatus for 5+ years. This division is solely for teachers, student teachers and competitors who have either placed or won at other competitions and who train to compete to become professional artists. 

    PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS

    This division is for the best of the best in their Field.  Artists who have been training for 6+ years and have competed and either placed or won at other professional competitions. This division is perfect for artists who are looking to be contracted by professional agencies, companies or event organizations. 

    MASTERS AGES 35-49

    This division is perfect for students over the age of 35 who have been training on their apparatus for 2+ years. Whether you’re a beginner, more advanced student or teacher just wanting to compete with no pressure, this is the division for you.

  • Medals are awarded to ALL participating competitors.

    Specialty Metals: These medals are awarded to Professional Artists competitors.

    Sashes: Sashes are awarded to the overall highest scoring solos, duos and trios in each division 3rd, 2nd & 1st

  • Winners that receive Overall High Score titles will receive Gift Prizes! In order to receive a prize you must have the TOP 3 Overall Highest Scoring routine in your age division and category. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash value.

  • Props

    General Props are permitted. Oversized props must be approved by magic in motion Staff. Ceiling heights, wing space, etc vary from venue to venue. Please contact us for any questions

    Props must be entered by the performer and exited with the performer. Spacing is limited backstage so all props must be removed immediately after the Competitor is done performing. Oversized props must be able to be added and removed within 30 seconds after routine has ended. Props that must be swept up after performance must be approved by Magic In Motion staff.

    Please avoid using Water, Powder, Paint, Glass in your routines to be considerate of the other performers and hazards that may occur on stage.

    Stage

    Stage is wide by deep (wing space varies from venue to venue)

    Routines & Costumes

    All routines and Costumes must be age-appropriate and appropriate for family viewing. If judges feel a routine is not appropriate, points will be deducted or competitors can or may be disqualified.

    Tiebreakers

    In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the highest overall Technique score. If both competitors have the exact highest overall technique score, then the tiebreaker is broken by the Judges’ Discussion.

    Rehearsal time and routine Run-thrus

    Each routine will be allotted one rehearsal run through. Competitors must perform in scheduled order unless discussed prior with Magic in motion staff. Any competitor that misses they’re scheduled rehearsal time will forfeit their scheduled run through. Consideration is given for travel delays and apparatus or costume issues.

    • Magic in motion will avoid judges judging their own choreographed routines. In the event that this happens, the judging tabulator will replace that judge to score that routine.

    • There is no videotaping or photography of any kind during stage performances.

    • All competitors authorize Magic in motion the use of their image in photos and video for Magic in motion advertisement purposes.

    • No Refunds will be issued for any cancellations. Credits may be issued at the discretion of Magic in motion.

    • In order to accommodate all competition entries, you may be asked to perform as early as Friday morning with rare occurrences on a Thursday evening. If a routine can not perform due to school obligations that competitor/routine will be moved to a different day and or time.
